Better Volunteer Engagement for Free!

We are a proud affiliate of Volunteer Program Assessment (VPA), a free volunteer assessment system helping nonprofits nationwide understand and improve their volunteers’ experience. Since 2009, VPA has partnered with 11 universities to support over 900 organizations.

Our consulting is provided by trained SDSU graduate students under the supervision of Dr. Lisa Kath, faculty advisor. We offer this service free because we want to give back to the nonprofits and volunteers doing important work. In return, our students gain the hands-on consulting experience they need to be competitive for internships and jobs.

This program is for nonprofit organizations that: 

  • Have 30+ volunteers
  • Operate out of a physical location

Available Services:

  • Needs Assessment:
    We meet with your volunteer coordinator to understand your organization’s goals and challenges.

  • Volunteer Survey:
    A confidential survey that gives your volunteers a voice, complete with email templates ready for you to send.

  • Data Analysis & Report:
    We turn responses into a clear report, combining quantitative data with open-ended volunteer feedback.

  • Action Plan:
    We meet with your volunteer coordinator to walk through evidence-based recommendations tailored to your organization’s data.
